Ever since we first set up the Shop back in 2023, there’s one big theme for a Shop collection that’s been the most requested: Avatar Decorations and Profile Effects based on your favorite anime. That changes today…
We're excited to announce we've teamed up with Crunchyroll to bring you our first anime-themed collection, just in time for Crunchyroll's 2025 Anime Awards on May 25th. Our first anime drop features one of the most highly-requested series you’ve been wishing to see a Shop drop of: My Hero Academia!
Become the hero you want to be with the My Hero Academia Collection, featuring eight Avatar Decorations and three Profile Effects based upon fan-favorite heroes and villains that showcase their unique and superpowerful Quirks. You’ll see the determined Izuku Midoriya, the fierce Katsuki Bakugo, the destructive Tomura Shigaraki, and others appearing throughout the collection.
When creating the avatar decorations, our Creative team had to figure out the most iconic, instantly recognizable element of any My Hero Academia character that wouldn’t cover your own avatar too much. For a fan, that’s an easy one to answer: their Hero Gear!
Once we have a clear concept for each character's gear, we add color to build mood and richness before finally diving into animation, where the magic really happens. The added movement of their iconic Quirks lets you and your own avatar truly feel like a part of the My Hero Academia world.
Our design goals shift slightly from profile effects. Profiles are a much bigger surface to play with, so we can go bigger, not just in size but also in storytelling.
We started by asking ourselves, “What gets fans excited about My Hero Academia?” It’s not JUST the character. It’s not JUST their slick gear. It’s their signature moves and those unforgettable moments from the anime! (Imagine our team reciting their favorite quotes mid-call.)
We aimed to evoke bold, fun nostalgia for fans. For Deku, this meant embodying the electrifying energy of Full Cowling, while for Bakugo, it focused on his dynamic Cluster explosions!
You might not notice it at first when looking at someone’s profile, but a great profile effect hits instantly, tells a story in seconds, and leaves an impression. We landed on these designs because they let us show both the characters and their abilities in a way that feels true to the world of My Hero Academia.
