Girls Aloud star Nicola Roberts has announced the birth of her first child.

In a social media post, the singer, 40, said her daughter had "arrived healthy and content a couple of weeks ago at 38 weeks" and was "thriving".

Photos from her Instagram account show the star holding her baby, as well as her partner Mitch Hahn carrying the baby in a car seat.

Roberts said: "It's heaven on earth with her and we can hardly believe she's ours".

Fellow celebrities congratulated Roberts and former non-league footballer Hahn in the comments on her post, including singer Sophie Ellis-Bextor, TV presenters AJ Odudu and Katie Piper, and actress Michelle Keegan.

Bandmate Nadine Coyle also offered her congratulations, saying she was "sending so much love" to the couple.

Girls Aloud members Cheryl, Nadine Coyle, Walsh and Roberts reunited for an arena tour of UK and Ireland in 2024 - their first tour in more than 11 years.

The band formed on TV show Popstars: The Rivals in 2002, going onto release five studio albums and winning a BRIT award in 2009.

Roberts has also released her own music and starred in musicals. Last year, she starred in the West End production of hit musical Hadestown.
