The HID subsystem updates have landed in the Linux 7.2 kernel with some treats that will excite Linux gamers and other desktop users.

First up, the most significant addition to HID for Linux 7.2 is the introduction of the OneXPlayer driver. This is the latest open-source driver by Derek Clark of Valve's Linux efforts. The OneXPlayer Configuration Driver allows handling RGB lighting controls, hardware-level button mapping, and related configurations. For those using OneXPlayer gaming handhelds with Linux, this is a very useful driver for configuring various settings that until now were only available with the company's official Windows driver.

Also on the gaming side is adding support for the HORI Wireless Switch Pad to the existing Nintendo HID Linux driver. This is a ~$60 USD gaming controller originally designed for the Nintendo Switch.

Also now supported is adding the Rakk Dasig X to the Rakk driver as the mouse side buttons haven't been supported with Linux otherwise.

The HID PlayStation driver with Linux 7.2 also now supports the extra button on the DualSense Edge controller. The Lenovo HID driver also added support for the ThinkPad X13 Folio keyboard.

The Logitech HID++ driver code also received a fix in Linux 7.2 around high resolution scrolling for HID++ 2.0 devices. On wheel mode changes, the wheel multiplier is now properly synced to avoid potentially relying on stale cached data.
