HARDWARE

This week's x86 platform driver fixes include not only a handful of bug fixes but also enabling some additional laptops within existing drivers for HP and ASUS devices.

Linux's ASUS Armoury driver for providing additional configuration support and features under Linux continues advancing steadily. Merged ahead of Linux 7.1-rc5 were several bug fixes as well as enabling support for some additional models:

- ASUS TUF A14 Ryzen AI Max+ FA401EA
- ASUS TUF Gaming F16 2025 FX607VU powered by Intel Core 5 CPUs
- ASUS ROG Strix G16 2025 G614FR that is powered by AMD Ryzen SoCs with NVIDIA GeForce RTX graphics
- ASUS ROG Zephyrus G16 2025 GU605CP powered by Intel Core Ultra 9 and GeForce RTX 5090 graphics

ASUS laptop

In addition to supporting those additional ASUS laptop models, the HP WMI driver also added some new hardware support. The HP WMI driver added thermal support for the Omen 16-c0xxx (board 8902).

The Uniwill laptop driver notably used by TUXEDO Computers laptops has seen a number of fixes, including a safeguard to prevent permanently damaging the laptop battery. This is an issue with older laptops from around the year 2020 where the battery charging limit can permanently damage the battery.

More details on this week's round of platform-drivers-x86 changes can be found via the pull request that is merged to Git ahead of tomorrow's Linux 7.1-rc5 release.
