With KDE's Plasma 6.7 desktop having released this week, more development attention is turning to feature work toward Plasma 6.8 but there are also some fixes already accumulating for the Plasma 6.7.1 point release.

A feature found with some graphics drivers and operating systems for many years, monitors are now identified with color-coded number badges when configuring multi-monitor setups. This makes in turn recognizing monitors much easier for configuration, especially if having multiple displays of the same model. These color-coded monitor number badges are for Plasma 6.8 and were merged this week. This is particular useful for those with elaborate multi-monitor setups and more complex layouts than just a dual side-by-side configuration.

For Plasma 6.8, QML-based KDE apps are now using the KDE-style color picker rather than the Qt color picker that doesn't respect KDE color schemes.

For the Plasma 6.7.1 point release is now a smooth blend effect when switching between global themes.

Plasma 6.7.1 is also turning off its game controller input plug-in by default after some issues were uncovered with it taking more time to improve this plug-in. One of the pressing issues is a race condition on controller hot-plug causing problems.

For the prior stable series, Plasma 6.6.6 will correct an issue where KWin would fail to start at login for some older GPUs and GPU drivers. Plasma 6.7.1 also fixes a case where KWin could crash at log-in if an app requested an invalid color format.
