Linux 7.1-rc6 To Support The ASUS ROG RAIKIRI II & Nova 2...

HARDWARE

Ahead of the Linux 7.1-rc6 test kernel due out later today, this week's batch of input subsystem fixes have been sent out that includes enabling a few newer input devices.

First up the common XPad controller driver used by various Xbox style controllers is adding support for the ASUS ROG RAIKIRI II. At the beginning of May I wrote about Linux support coming for this $160 high-end gaming controller while now it's part of the "fixes" pull to make it into the current Linux 7.1 kernel series.

ASUS ROG RAIKIRI II

The ASUS ROG RAIKIRI II features 1KHz polling, TMR joysticks, dual-mode triggers, micro-switch buttons, and USB-C / Bluetooth / 2.4GHz RF connectivity options. The RAIKIRI II controller features a physical switch for putting it in PC or Xbox gaming modes. With just needing new device IDs, this is a safe addition for the current Linux 7.1 kernel cycle rather than holding it off until the v7.2 merge window in a few weeks.

GameSir Nova 2 Lite controller

Separately, the XPad driver is adding support for the GameSir Nova 2 Lite controller. The GameSir Nova 2 Lite is a wireless game controller that retails for just $30~35 USD.

Today's input pull request also updates the Synaptics touchpad driver for using the RMI mode for the touchpad on the Lenovo ThinkPad E490. Plus a few other small fixes in the input area of the kernel. These changes should be merged prior to the Linux 7.1-rc6 kernel release coming in the hours ahead.
