The latest open-source/Linux patch activity around AMD's next-gen Zen 6 processors is expanding the range of the CPU models detected by the Linux kernel.

The Linux kernel had been recognizing Family 26 (1Ah) models 80 (0x50) to 95 (0x5F), models 128 (0x80) to 175 (0xaf), and models 192 (0xc0) to 207 (0xcf) as being Zen 6 processors. But with a Friday night patch to the Linux kernel, that last block of models is being expanded from 192 to 239 (0xef).

Granted, not all the models will necessarily be used as often there are extra models reserved for possible but currently unplanned parts, possible (semi) custom SKUs, and more across AMD's diverse processor portfolio of Ryzen and EPYC from embedded to HPC chips.

Long story short, this Linux patch posted overnight reserves an additional 32 models for Zen 6 processors in indicating a growing family.

Overall the AMD Zen 6 enablement work continues to appear to be progressing well from the Linux kernel through the GCC and LLVM compiler toolchains and other open-source software components.
