A bruising battle over operational control within the billionaire Castel family’s drinks empire is intensifying after the two heirs at the center of the conflict were removed from the board of the historic wine business based near Bordeaux.
A shareholders meeting on Friday terminated the mandates of Romy Castel, daughter of 99-year-old founder Pierre Castel, and her cousin, Alain Castel, as directors of Castel Vins, according to a statement from Luxembourg-based parent DF Holding. DF’s board said the move followed actions by the two that were “incompatible with the group’s interests and proper governance.”
