Record-breaking heat that’s blanketed western Europe for more than a week is set to sweep east this weekend, with forecasts for searing temperatures across Germany, Poland, Austria and the Czech Republic.
Mainland Europe as a whole will be around 9C to 13C hotter than the seasonal average over the next couple of days, according to Paul Markert, a meteorologist with forecaster Vaisala.
