TotalEnergies SE was ordered by a Paris court to amend its climate change plans to also target the impact of indirect emissions produced in its value chain by customers.
Judges said TotalEnergies has levers to influence the emissions of its clients through the investments it picks and the composition of its energy portfolio. They gave the company six months to include so-called Scope 3 emissions in plans it has drawn up to identify and address a range of risks including environmental factors.
