Canadian retail sales continued to rise last month after a solid first quarter, but skyrocketing gasoline prices appear to be increasingly eating into household budgets.
An advance estimate suggests receipts for retailers rose 0.6% in April, following a 0.9% increase the previous month, Statistics Canada reported Friday. The March figure was higher than the median projection of 0.6% in a Bloomberg survey of economists.
