Susanne Wiegand is leaving Volkswagen AG’s supervisory board after less than a year, depriving Europe’s biggest automaker of one of its few outside industrial voices as it grapples with investor concerns over governance and strategy.
The former Renk Group AG boss won’t stand for reelection, she said Thursday, confirming reporting by Bloomberg News. Wiegand, 54, was one of two female board members not affiliated with the company, the local government, the labor side or the Porsche-Piëch owner family.
