iPad Pro 这一次最明显的升级，就是屏幕。新款屏幕支持 120Hz 的刷新频率，MacStories 说「这体验不像是我在操作，像是在播放 CGI 演示视频。它太流畅了。」说明高刷新率所带来的流畅体验是非常明显的。
另外这块屏幕还加入了名为 ProMotion （自适应刷新率）的技术，它可以让屏幕自动根据内容调整刷新率，比如当你在看电影，刷新率就自动调整为 48Hz，当你在进行绘画，刷新率就自动调整为 120Hz，以达到既有流畅体验，又能节约能源的效果。
根据 MacStories 对 ProMotion 的描述：
…as soon as you start drawing, the refresh rate automatically goes up to 120Hz for the Pencil. When the Pencil lifts off the screen, it goes back to 48Hz.

新一代的 10.5 英寸 iPad Pro 配置了苹果自家最新的 A10X Fusion 处理器，苹果认为它能够胜任更加复杂的图形处理任务。在实际体验中，Engadget 在 10.5 英寸的 iPad Pro 上测试了新推出的修图工具 Affinity Photo 和 3D 建模工具 UMake，发现除了在切换应用时有些许卡顿之外，整个使用的体验都比较流畅：
I threw a couple extra layers on top of a RAW image in Affinity Photo and tweaked the whole thing in real-time. I noticed the occasional hiccups when I tried to quickly leap into another app, but it wasn’t anything concerning.

I was only able to do some cursory testing but so far the measure of 10 hours seems super conservative unless you’re watching a ton of high frame rate video.
苹果为新一代 iPad Pro 推出了全新的 Smart Keyboard。纽约时报的记者在试用一周后，认为它依然和传统的笔记本键盘存在差距，例如键盘的输入手感一般，「触屏 + 键盘」的操作效率在一些场景下低于「鼠标 + 键盘」等等：
Most important, keyboard typing is not comfortable, and some tasks are better done with a mouse than with a touch screen. In the end, I would still recommend a traditional laptop for most professionals.
除了键盘，苹果还新推出了一款可以放置 Apple Pencil 的 iPad Pro 皮革保护套。MacStories 在使用这款保护套后发现，它不光能容纳 iPad Pro 本身，还可以同时放下 Smart Keybaord。事实上，如果没有安装 Smart Keyboard 或 Smart Cover, iPad Pro 会很容易就从保护套内滑落出来。
The leather sleeve is best used when the iPad is attached to a Smart Cover or Smart Keyboard; otherwise, the device will be loose and it might slip out (even when the Pencil is in), which happened to me when I was testing the iPad in the sleeve with no keyboard or cover attached to it.
新款 iPad Pro 如何选择，MacStories 的建议是，如果你把 iPad 当作主力电脑来使用，经常使用 Split View 分屏进行多任务操作，并且需要展示大量的内容，那么 10.5 英寸的 iPad Pro 还是不够大，你应该选择 12.9 英寸：
I’m not going to give up my 12.9” iPad Pro for writing articles, doing research, and working with Split View to move data between multiple apps. If you like the best and largest expression of iOS, I recommend getting the new 12.9” iPad Pro.
Engadget 的意见则是「花 649 美金去购买一台 iPad 还是有点贵，但你能得到一台市面上最为强大的平板电脑。」因为有不少人喜欢「第二块屏幕」这个概念——当他们不想打开电脑或者从口袋掏出手机时，能方便的用第二块屏幕进行网页浏览。但 Engadet 认为，用 10.5 英寸 iPad Pro 去当第二块屏幕有点浪费，「它的潜力远大于此。」
不过 Engadget 认为，对于摄影师和视频制作人来说，iPad Pro 可以让你更方便地进行一些图像处理和视频合并操作：
If you’re a photographer looking for a better way to edit RAW files in the field, this might be for you. Ditto for videographers and producers looking to piece together rough cuts without running for a workstation. And if you’re the kind of person contemplating a life without a traditional PC at home or in your bag, the power on display make the Pro 10.5 a good place to start.
The Verge 认为，如果你希望将 iPad Pro 当作主力电脑来使用，你或许需要大于 64GB 的存储空间，以及一个便于携带的键盘。这些东西加在一起需要花费将近 1000 美金。
If you’re going to spend that much money on an iPad, you should know exactly what you’re going to do with it that takes advantage of all the Pro features.
但是 The Verge 不认为大部分普通用户能够迅速适应「将 iPad Pro 当作主力电脑来使用」这一转变。对于其他用户来说，The Verge 建议我们等一等，等 iOS 11 正式发布以后再做决定。
