Spotlight On: Worldline, a New Principal Participating Organization
Alicia Malone · 2026-05-11 · via PCI Perspectives

Welcome Worldline, a new Principal Participating Organization (PPO) at the PCI Security Standards Council! In this special spotlight edition of our PCI Perspectives Blog, Worldline Head of PCI Program, Isil Ugurlu, introduces us to her company and how they are helping to shape the future of payment security.

Tell us about your company.

Worldline [Euronext: WLN] is a global leader in the payments industry and the technology partner of choice for merchants, banks and acquirers. Powered by approximately 16,000 employees in more than 40 countries, Worldline provides its clients with sustainable, trusted and innovative solutions fostering their growth. Services offered by Worldline include in-store and online commercial acquiring, highly secure payment transaction processing, and numerous digital services.

Why did your company decide to become a Principal Participating Organization?

Global collaboration within the payments industry is an important mission for Worldline. After participating in various PCI Council initiatives for several years, we view joining as a Principal Participating Organization as an invaluable opportunity to proactively engage with the PCI Council in various activities—from strategic roadmap discussions to sharing feedback on payment standards evolution—and ensure we stay ahead of future changes.

Which benefits are you most looking forward to as a Principal Participating Organization?

At a strategic level, deeper involvement with the PCI Security Standards Council is highly valuable for Worldline. Being a Principal Participating Organization offers a unique opportunity to contribute to standards development, engage in implementation discussions, and have a seat at the PCI Technical Guidance Group to shape the future of payment security.

Why is it important for companies to get more involved with the PCI Security Standards Council, especially at the Principal Participating Organization level?

This level of engagement enables companies to move beyond simply adopting standards and, instead, become active contributors. It provides direct involvement in PCI processes and fosters collaboration with a broad range of stakeholders across the payment ecosystem—including auditors, service providers, and merchants—ensuring that industry needs are addressed more effectively.

What are some payment security topics that you’re interested in collaborating on?

We are interested in collaborating on these key areas: evaluating existing standards like PCI DSS and PIN, developing new PCI standards, and exploring connectivity with other regulatory controls. Additionally, we focus on the impact of AI on PCI audit processes. By concentrating on these areas, we aim to provide valuable insights and collaborate actively on Council initiatives to enhance security across the payment industry.
