| | Ask HN: Why do people hate using AI so much? | | 1 point by AznHisoka 27 minutes ago | hide | past | favorite | 3 comments | | Let's ignore the potential job loss implications, and consuming AI-generated content/slop... why do people hate using AI so much? It saves them time with so many things, whether it's writing code, analyzing email, writing emails/content, or just debugging stuff. I hate stuff like lame AI generated content, or sloppy code generated by AI but again, ignoring the consumption part, and focusing solely on what you do with it: Why do most people hate using it? | |

I'm not sure most people do hate llm use as users. I am very impressed, well more like stunned at where we have come in the last few year. I use Claude almost every day and I love the productivity gains it affords. What i will say though is that (for me anyways) working with an llm like Claude can be mentally taxing because of how fast we can move together. I also refuse to vibe code so i am always proofing the work and maintaining a context of what we are working on Perhaps this increased cognitive load is what others are talking about if they say they dont like using an llm |

I've noticed a huge increase in cynicism and negativity in hn comments in the past few years. Being negative and dismissive is in- makes you sound blasé, in-the-know, experienced and capable of seeing beyond the surface. Unfortunately it misses the point entirely with LLMs (the correct reaction to LLMs being "WOW! FUCK! WOW!"). |
