.De registrants should pay close attention to their inbox.

DENIC, the organization that manages Germany’s .de domain name, is implementing requirements related to NIS2. All registrants of .de domains should be on alert.

Already, .de Whois is showing more information for legal entities. Whois lookups show the company’s name, address, phone number, and email address. Whois for individual domain owners is still redacted.

Domain registrar InterNetX sent an email to customers today outlining other changes its customers should expect for .de domains.

Mandatory registrant email verification is going into effect. On April 14, DENIC will request verification for any domain registered before April 14 that wasn’t verified. Registrants will have only seven days to verify their email address. Domains will be deactivated if the email isn’t verified, and the domain will be deleted after 90 days.

DENIC may also request email verification at any time for any .de domain with a seven-day response period.

Additionally, strict address verification will be enforced on all new .de registrations and updates.

From now on, DENIC can conduct random or event-driven verification of domain holders.

Also, registrants of existing .de domains without a phone number will be required to add one by April 2027.
