Cybersquatting panel orders domain name to be transferred to the late chef’s foundation.

The Julia Child Foundation for Gastronomy and the Culinary Arts, created by the late chef Julia Child, will gain control of the domain JuliaChildsRecipes .com.

The organization filed a cybersquatting dispute under the Uniform Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy (UDRP) with World Intellectual Property Organization.

It argued that the website at the domain, which lists recipes, is attempting to trade off Child’s name for financial benefit.

An about page on the site states:

JuliaChildsRecipes .com is a place to find great recipes from the late Julia Child. This website was formed from my love of cooking. I’m very experienced in cooking recipes from other Chefs, and wish to expand my horizons and explore the wonderful world of Julia Child’s Recipes. You’re welcome to join me on my journey as I experiment with different recipes, and post my opinions here on this site.

The site has been active for over a decade; it’s unclear why the foundation only now got around to filing a dispute.

There’s no information on the site about who is behind it, but the domain is registered to Jeremiah Long in California.

Panelist W. Scott Blackmer had no trouble finding in the foundation’s favor.
