Days after the Bucks picked the Heat’s trade package for Giannis Antetokounmpo over the Celtics’ offer, Boston remains active in trade talks involving Jaylen Brown.

Brown was the centerpiece of the Celtics offer to Milwaukee, and several NBA insiders have reported that the Celtics finding a new home for Brown this summer is a real possibility.

On Friday, ESPN’s Shams Charania reported the Celtics’ asking price for the five-time All-Star.

“We know they tried to get Giannis, but what’s the ask now?” Charania said during an appearance on “Get Up” Friday morning. “My understanding is that in some cases the Celtics have asked teams for at least four first round picks for Jaylen Brown.”

Miami’s winning bid for Antetokounmpo included three first-round picks, a pick swap, a second-round pick and a bevy of young players including Tyler Herro and Jaime Jaquez Jr.

Two years ago, the Knicks sent five first-round picks to Brooklyn in exchange for Mikal Bridges.

Bridges has yet to make an NBA All-Star team, but New York was eager to pair him with former Villanova teammates Josh Hart and Jalen Brunson. After winning an NCAA national championship together, the trio helped the Knicks win their first NBA championship since 1973 a few weeks ago.

The Celtics have been bounced early from the playoffs the past two postseasons. The Knicks knocked them out in the semifinals in 2025. Boston collapsed and surrendered a 3-1 series lead to the 76ers in 2026.

Brown is 29-years-old, under contract with the Celtics for the next three years, and coming off of one of the best seasons of his career. Boston hasn’t ruled out bringing him back, but Brad Stevens didn’t rule out trading Brown while speaking to reporters after the first round of the NBA Draft this past week.

When asked if Brown will be at on the team at the start of this upcoming season, Stevens said that he won’t predict the future.

“This is Boston team that has been contending in the Eastern Conference,” Charania said. “Their potential ask for some teams is a package of picks and players. How have they reimagined this roster moving forward? Their finances, viability as a contender in the Eastern Conference.”

“But, I do think as of right now, time will tell which side will bring the urgency to this matter this offseason.”
