The incident took place around 10 a.m. on the second floor of the Dorchester Division of the Boston Municipal Court.

Five individuals were taken into custody following a brawl Wednesday morning at a courthouse in Dorchester, authorities said.

The incident took place around 10 a.m. on the second floor of the Dorchester Division of the Boston Municipal Court at 510 Washington St., according to a statement from the Boston Police Department.

Although the initial fight had concluded by the time officers arrived, officers were required to separate the parties involved and relocated the five men to a holding area to restore order, police said.

Authorities identified the four adults arrested as 19-year-olds Syncere Johnson, Shamar Passley-Clark, and Terrel Stokes, all of Dorchester, along with 20-year-old Damontay Brown, of Boston.

A 17-year-old male from Dorchester was also arrested, though his name was withheld due to age.

While the suspects were awaiting transport from the holding area, a second altercation broke out, according to the police statement.

During this disruption, a handcuffed suspect kicked another individual and then attempted to spit on him. The spit missed the intended target and instead struck an officer, police said.

All five suspects have been charged with affray and disrupting court proceedings. The 17-year-old faces additional charges of assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon and assault and battery on a police officer, according to police.

During an arraignment on Wednesday at BMC Dorchester, Brown, Passley-Clark, and Stokes entered pleas of not guilty. They are currently being held on $1,000 bail, according to court records.

Johnson’s arraignment was pushed to Thursday, and the court has yet to disclose the outcome.
