Police responded to a 911 call Saturday morning and found a woman with a severe head wound who later died at the hospital.

A Lawrence man is facing a murder charge after a woman was found dead by police Saturday morning, according to prosecutors.

Tyler Halley, 21, is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday in Lawrence District Court, the Essex County District Attorney’s Office said in a press release. Further information about the murder charge he’s facing will not be released until after the arraignment.

Shortly after 3:15 a.m. Saturday, Lawrence police responded to an apartment at 240 Canal St. after receiving a 911 call, prosecutors said. When they arrived, they found an unresponsive woman with a severe head wound.

The woman was taken to Merrimack Health Lawrence Hospital, where she was pronounced dead “shortly after arriving,” according to the DA’s office. The victim’s identity has not been released.
