New Movies Streaming

‘Lorne’ (2026)

If you didn’t watch enough behind-the-scenes content about “SNL” in the lead-up to its 50th anniversary show last year, this Morgan Neville doc goes down easy. I wish it were a tad more probing, but such is the nature of documentary filmmaking in 2026. It’s nevertheless fun to hear figures like Bill Hader, John Mulaney, and Andy Samberg share their best anecdotes about the man who has run “Saturday Night Live” since day one.

How to watch: “Lorne” is streaming on Peacock.

‘WALL-E’ (2008)

With director Andrew Stanton’s “Toy Story 5” now in theaters (read my review here), this weekend is the perfect time to revisit his greatest work. A mostly wordless sci-fi film about a garbage-compacting robot that both scolds humanity’s excess and validates the tenacity of the human spirit, all while telling one of the most touching love stories ever put on screen. Simply put, “WALL-E” is a masterpiece.

How to watch: “WALL-E” is streaming on Disney+

More new movies streaming: “How to Make a Killing” (HBO Max); “Never Change!” (Hulu); “Voicemails For Isabelle” (Netflix); “Your Fault: London” (Prime Video)

New TV Shows Streaming

‘I Will Find You’

This crime miniseries from Harlan Coben doesn’t reinvent the wheel, but it gets bonus points for being set in Boston and for a solid performance from Britt Lower (“Severance”), playing a former Boston Globe reporter whose onetime brother-in-law (Sam Worthington) is serving a life sentence for a murdering his son — a crime he says he didn’t commit.

How to watch: “I Will Find You” is streaming on Netflix.

“Sugar” Season 2

Since the trailer and promotional materials for the second season of this Apple TV crime drama don’t reveal the big twist from Season 1, I won’t here either. But you should definitely catch up before diving into the series, which stars Colin Farrell as a Los Angeles private eye who, like any good noir detective, spends as much time observing the behavior of the city’s residents as he does chasing down bad guys.

This season, Farrell’s John Sugar is looking for another missing person, this time linked to a boxer in Koreatown. The more he observes, the more questions arise.

How to watch: “Sugar” Season 2 is streaming on Apple TV.

‘Widow’s Bay’

We’ve mentioned this show before, but with its finale recently airing (and Apple TV renewing it for a second season), it’s worth noting this standout horror-comedy a second time. Filmed in Massachusetts in towns like Gloucester and Rockport but set in a fictional Maine island town, Matthew Rhys plays a mayor that puts the one from “Jaws” to shame in how flagrantly he ignores the warning signs that Widow’s Bay is a cursed island.

Much like “Parks and Recreation,” a lot of the show’s humor comes from the colorful townsfolk and government bureaucrats that have come to terms with their occult surroundings, which makes sense, given that series creator Katie Dippold served as a writer on the NBC sitcom.

How to watch: “Widow’s Bay” is streaming on Apple TV.

More new TV shows streaming: “The Agency” Season 2 (June 21, Paramount+); “House of the Dragon” Season 3 (June 21, HBO Max); “Las Culturistas Culture Awards 2026” (Peacock)
