The 50-year-old allegedly gave the victim alcohol before he entered the lake.

A 50-year-old Nashua woman pleaded not guilty Tuesday in connection to the drowning of an intoxicated 17-year-old in Lake Winnipesaukee last year, authorities said.

Buffy Ann Doyle, of Nashua, New Hampshire, was indicted April 17 and charged with felony negligent homicide, two counts of witness tampering, and falsifying physical evidence, according to court documents.

The charges are linked to a June 20, 2025, incident in Gilford, New Hampshire. The teenager was on a boat with Doyle and two other women when he entered the water near Rattlesnake and Diamond islands shortly before 1 p.m., according to a statement from New Hampshire State Police

The 17-year-old was attempting to recover a bag that had fallen overboard but could not resurface due to rough lake conditions, police said.

Authorities recovered his body around 7 p.m. that evening, and an initial investigation declared the cause of death to be drowning, according to the police statement.

Doyle is accused of negligently permitting the teenager to go into the lake while aware he was intoxicated after she had provided him with alcohol, court records state.

She is additionally accused of tampering with evidence by dumping alcohol from the boat as the police investigation commenced, according to court documents.

Doyle waived her arraignment, which was scheduled for Tuesday, in Belknap County Superior Court, police said. She was released on personal recognizance, court records show.
