The FIFA Fan Festival scheduled to take place at Government Center on Thursday evening has been canceled due to predicted high winds and concerns over public safety.
“We apologize for the inconvenience and encourage you to enjoy the sport safely where you can,” read an announcement on the FIFA Fan Festival landing page.
The National Weather Service is predicting scattered severe storms on Thursday afternoon and evening.
The next live-streaming date for the FIFA Fan Festival is Friday, June 19, when the festival will stream games beginning at 3 p.m.
The free festival will run through June 27 and aims to serve as the city’s main gathering space for fans, residents, and visitors during the tournament. Each day includes broadcasts of two or three World Cup matches, as well as a Cultural Showcase featuring local artists, musicians, and performers.
Fans can register for the event through the Boston FWC 26 website, and registration is required to attend the festival.
