A wedding photographer from Mendon was stabbed during a reception in Maine over the past weekend, authorities said. 

Donald Halsing, 26, was at Kingsley Camp Ground in Raymond, Maine, around 7 p.m. Saturday when he was stabbed in the chest in an “unprovoked attack,” according to a statement from the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office. 

Halsing was taken to Maine Medical Center to be treated for serious, though not life-threatening, injuries, officials said. 

He suffered two lacerations, including one to his liver, and underwent emergency surgery, according to a GoFundMe established for Halsing. 

“He is expected to have a long road to recovery,” the campaign description states. “He is looking forward to putting this nightmare behind him.”

Following witness interviews, police arrested 26-year-old Andrew Manderson, who was charged with elevated aggravated assault. He is being held in the Cumberland County Jail, according to the sheriff’s office. 

The sheriff’s office noted there is no ongoing threat to the public. 

The investigation remains active, authorities said.
