A United States Postal Service employee was injured Monday night at a facility in North Reading.
The 60-year-old woman’s hand got caught between the conveyor belt of a sorting machine and a metal sorting tray shortly after 11 p.m. at the USPS Middlesex/Essex Processing and Distribution Center at 76 Main St., according to North Reading fire officials.
“Crews carefully cut and disassembled parts of the conveyor belt and metal frame, and were able to free the victim after about 30 minutes,” officials said.
The woman was transported to Lahey Hospital and Medical Center for treatment. There were no updates on her condition.
