A man who threw a “temper tantrum” after missing his bus is now facing charges, along with the passenger who reportedly used a knife to threaten the man, transit police say. 

Around noon on May 6, a man stepped into Mt. Auburn Street to block an MBTA bus after failing to catch it, according to an X post from MBTA Transit Police. 

The situation escalated when the man engaged in an argument with a 33-year-old passenger who wanted him to get out of the street, police said. 

The passenger, who was discovered to have active arrest warrants, allegedly threatened the man with a knife and is now facing charges, according to transit police. 

In a subsequent X post on Tuesday, transit police said the individual who blocked the bus will also be criminally charged. 

“His temper tantrum tied up traffic in a major street in Cambridge and placed the safety of the #MBTA operator & others at risk,” the post reads.
