The longtime Hemenway Street restaurant will serve its final customers Thursday night.
A longtime Fenway pizza spot is closing this week.
Woody’s Grill & Tap, the Hemenway Street restaurant known for wood-fired pizza, beer, and a low-key neighborhood feel, will close Thursday night, a worker confirmed to Boston.com.
The restaurant, located at 58 Hemenway St., sits a short walk from Fenway Park and Symphony Hall.
Its website describes Woody’s as a “Fenway neighborhood jewel.” The restaurant has hosted local art exhibits, poetry readings, and other community gatherings over the years.
A Reddit post sharing the announcement prompted a wave of nostalgia, with commenters reminiscing. “Been going there since at least 2004,” one user wrote. “My favorite pizza in Boston, and the best wings, too. And a delightfully unpretentious but not grimy bar/restaurant seating area, too.” Another user said, “this place was my favorite when i was at northeastern … best pizza in the boston area for sure.”
A restaurant employee confirmed the Woody’s final night of service is Thursday, May 28, but could not immediately provide additional details about the closure.
