A Massachusetts man is among two suspects facing a potential life sentence following charges related to an interstate kidnapping conspiracy, authorities said.
Damarcus Bonner, 30, of Connecticut, and Tyron Harris, 27, of Massachusetts, appeared in federal court Tuesday. The pair had been held in Vermont state custody since January after earlier charges were filed by that state, according to a statement from New Hampshire U.S. Attorney Erin Creegan.
Bonner and Harris are accused of kidnapping an adult victim in Claremont, New Hampshire, and bringing her to a home in Springfield, Vermont, where they held her against her will and tortured her for more than 24 hours, Creegan said.

According to the criminal complaint, the Greenfield Police Department received a report Jan. 24 of a possible kidnapping. The caller informed police that the mother of his child, an adult female, contacted him to say she was being “held against her will” and “needed money to pay her captors to prevent further harm.”
The caller reported receiving images from the victim’s phone showing her bound feet and abdominal burns. During a FaceTime call, he also saw one of the captors carrying a silver handgun, the criminal complaint states.
Law enforcement tracked the victim’s phone and arrived at the Springfield residence Jan. 25.

After the victim left the house, Bonner, Harris, and four others — including one labeled as “co-conspirator 2” and a minor — were identified at the scene, according to court documents.
On Jan. 23, the victim had arranged a drug purchase in Claremont, New Hampshire, with an individual identified as “co-conspirator 1,” she told law enforcement while in the hospital. Upon arrival, she encountered Bonner and Harris inside a black pickup truck and was forced into the vehicle, she said.
The woman later informed police she was held for ransom because Bonner and Harris accused her of stealing drugs or money from them. She described being restrained with duct tape, struck, and tortured; captors allegedly used a heated knife to burn her and poured hydrogen peroxide over a towel on her face, according to the criminal complaint.
During a subsequent search of the residence, investigators found a silver handgun that matched descriptions provided by the victim and the initial caller, as well as various illegal drugs, including heroin that seemed to be prepared for sale, court documents state. Authorities also located items used for torture that aligned with the victim’s statements.
Bonner and Harris face federal charges of kidnapping and conspiracy to commit kidnapping, which carry a potential sentence of up to life in prison, according to Creegan.
