Craig Ferguson walked from Los Angeles to Boston and raised over $1 million for men's mental health.

Craig Ferguson has completed his 3,000 mile trek to Boston ahead of Scotland’s World Cup opening match with Haiti on Saturday.

A Scotland fan, Ferguson finished up his walk in the Boston Common on Friday afternoon, just in time to catch the game. He started in February and walked to the city all the way from Los Angeles to raise money for men’s mental health.

The journey was certainly a success; Ferguson raised over $1 million for men’s mental health awareness in Scotland. At the beginning of the month, he explained why he decided to gut out the walk for charity. His friend had tragically lost his father to suicide, which provided the spark.

“Losing your dad, there’s probably not a more important figure in a man’s life that you could lose,” Ferguson told The Boston Globe‘s Amin Touri.

After completing his hike, Ferguson was overcome by emotion.

“There’s been so many [hard parts], there’s been so, so many times I didn’t think I could do it, times I was close to giving up,” Ferguson said. “But they don’t teach the words ‘giving up’ in Scotland, so that’s a good thing. We made it.”

Ferguson did note he has absolutely no interest in continuing his walk the rest of the way to Foxborough. For that, he’ll be using a taxi. Kickoff for the match between Scotland and Haiti is set for 9 p.m. Eastern Time.
