The deadly crash occurred on King Street in Franklin Tuesday afternoon.
A teenager from Franklin died Tuesday after a vehicle hit him while he was riding a bicycle, police said.
Authorities received multiple calls 911 at about 3:20 p.m. They were told that a vehicle hit a juvenile cyclist in the area of King Street near the I-495 north off-ramp, the Franklin Police Department said in a release.
Police responded to the scene alongside members of the Franklin Fire Department. They attempted life-saving measures, and the victim was transported to UMass Memorial Medical Center. He was later pronounced dead at the hospital, police said.
Officials did not release the victim’s name, identifying him only as a 15-year-old Franklin resident.
“The Franklin Police Department extends its deepest condolences to the victim’s family, friends, and all those affected by this tragic incident,” the department said.
The driver of the vehicle involved remained at the scene and is cooperating with police, officials said. It is unclear if they will face any charges related to the deadly incident.
Police closed the area of the crash for hours. WCVB news cameras captured footage of a white SUV surrounded by crime scene tape. What appeared to be a black Bluetooth speaker sat on the pavement in the middle of the area police cordoned off.
Franklin police, State Police, and the Norfolk District Attorney’s Office are conducting an ongoing investigation.
