A person died following a shooting in Dorchester early Friday morning, police said.

The incident took place around 1 a.m. near 260 Bowdoin St., according to a statement from the Boston Police Department. 

The victim was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said. 

Authorities did not identify the victim or specify if any arrests had been made.

The investigation remains active, police said.
