Three other locations in Massachusetts are still open.
After years of serving wings, burgers, and beers, one Massachusetts Hooters is calling it quits.
The Hooters in Shrewsbury, located at 291 Boston Turnpike, is closing, the sports bar announced Wednesday on Facebook.
“These decisions are never easy, and we want to sincerely thank the Shrewsbury community for years of support, memories, and loyalty,” the caption reads.
Founded in 1983, Hooters became known for its wings, beer, sports-bar atmosphere, and the chain’s all-female waitstaff dressed in the brand’s signature uniforms. The company still operates several Massachusetts locations, including restaurants in Saugus, Dedham, and West Springfield.
“To all of our wonderful guests, incredible team members, and amazing Hooters Girls. Thank you for being part of what made this location special,” the post continues. “We are truly grateful for each and every one of you.”
The closure comes as Hooters is undergoing a rebrand. The chain’s original owners reclaimed much of the business, acquiring roughly 140 locations with plans to “re-Hooterize” the brand and steer it back toward a more casual, family-friendly sports-bar experience.
