Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay paid a visit to Scotland’s national soccer team Friday, on the eve of their World Cup match against Haiti, trading in his colorful barbs for encouraging grins.
Team members presented the avid soccer fan with a custom “Ramsay 26” jersey in a video posted to the team’s social media pages. The brief clip also showed the “Hell’s Kitchen” star chatting and shaking hands with several players as they trained at a facility in Foxborough.
Ramsay, who operates multiple restaurants in the Boston area, was born in Scotland and played for a Scottish professional soccer team, the Glasgow Rangers, as a teenager before he was sidelined by a knee injury.
On his own Instagram page Friday, Ramsay shared a recipe for a “World Cup inspired Juicy Lucy Burger with a Korean Twist,” in honor of South Korea’s win over the Czech Republic in a World Cup match near Guadalajara Thursday. However, Ramsay also starred in a recent Uber Eats commercial encouraging soccer fans to order delivery during World Cup games.
“Who could cook at a time like this?” Ramsay demands in the ad.
