Oliver Lewis was an honor roll student and a soccer player at Bishop Feehan High School in Attleboro.

The 15-year-old cyclist that died after a vehicle hit him in Franklin this week was a rising sophomore at Bishop Feehan High School in Attleboro.

He was identified as Oliver Lewis in a message sent to the school community, excerpts of which were shared with Boston.com by Bishop Feehan President Tim Sullivan.

“Oliver was one of our own, and his loss leaves a real and lasting hole in our school family. At moments like this, we are reminded of how deeply we are connected to one another — and how much we need each other,” Sullivan wrote.

At about 3:20 p.m. Tuesday, police responded to multiple 911 calls about a vehicle hitting a cyclist in the area of King Street near the I-495 north off-ramp in Franklin. Lewis was transported to UMass Memorial Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.

The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and is cooperating with police. It is unclear if they will face any charges. An investigation is ongoing.

Sullivan told the school community Wednesday that he did not yet have information regarding a funeral or memorial services.

The last of classes at the Catholic school was June 16, but Sullivan said that counseling staff would be available for students at Bishop Feehan on Thursday morning. Campus ministry staff also opened the school’s chapel for those who wanted to pray.

Lewis was a member of the school’s freshman soccer team, and an honor roll student, according to information from Bishop Feehan’s website.

“In this time of grief, may we hold one another close in faith and in love. We trust in God’s mercy and in the comfort of His presence — and we trust in each other,” Sullivan wrote.
