A shooting in Dorchester early Tuesday morning left one in critical condition, marking the city’s fifth shooting in the past week. 

The incident occurred around 1:20 a.m. near 25 Dacia St., according to a report from the Boston Police Department. 

During their investigation, officers located shell casings, projectile fragments, and “two small blood trails” along the building at 25 Dacia St., according to the police report. 

The gunfire caused ballistic damage to several structures and a vehicle parked nearby, police said. 

Police spoke with residents at both 25 and 33 Dacia St. and found they were not hurt.

The victim remains in “critical condition,” according to the police report. However, they are expected to survive, the Boston Globe reported. 

No arrests have been made at this time. 

Identifying details of both the suspects and victims were redacted in the office police report. 

Tuesday’s incident is the fifth shooting in Boston over the last week and the third to take place in Dorchester. 

The string of shootings began Saturday night in Mattapan, where police found 30-year-old Michael Jacob, of Randolph, with a gunshot wound outside 28 Woolson St. He was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. 

On Sunday, three more people were injured in two separate shootings in Dorchester. 

The first occurred at approximately 2:05 a.m. near the intersection Geneva Avenue and Everton Street. Both victims were taken to nearby hospitals and sustained non-life-threatening injuries, police said. 

Later that evening, a shooting at 69 Kingsdale St. resulted in the hospitalization of a man with non-life-threatening injuries and a woman with serious life-threatening injuries. 

BPD Superintendent Paul McLaughlin noted that the Kingsdale Street shooting appeared to be “directed” rather than “something that people in the neighborhood should be concerned about specifically.” 

No suspects have been arrested in connection with any of the four shootings, according to police. 

A shooting on Memorial Drive in Cambridge occurred Monday afternoon, in which more than 50 rounds were fired at cars and pedestrians, according to prosecutors. Two men were seriously injured in their vehicles, and the suspected gunman has been arrested. 

According to BPD crime data, Boston has seen two fatal shootings so far this year, a decrease from the six recorded during the same period last year. The number of total shooting victims has also dropped to 28, compared to 36 at this point in the previous year.
