Nearly 200 bars and restaurants across Boston have been approved to stay open later this summer ahead of a busy events season, according to the most recent city data.

As of Monday night, the Boston Licensing Board approved extended hours for 191 establishments through July 31, following legislation signed last week by Gov. Maura Healey. The temporary approvals allow many venues to serve customers for an extra hour, up until 3 a.m.

The expanded hours coincide with the World Cup, July Fourth, and Sail Boston, which are expected to draw large crowds to the city.

The Licensing Board’s approvals will continue on a rolling basis, a spokesperson for the Mayor’s Press office told Boston.com.
