Karen Read’s SUV — privately purchased after a sparsely attended auction — is now selling for nearly $100,000 at a Dedham dealership.
The 2021 Lexus LX 570, a key piece of evidence in both murder trials against Read, went up for auction last week in Woburn, but the sale was canceled after a low turnout and the vehicle was instead sold privately.
“Autobahn USA Dedham is proud to present this,” a dealership listing for the car said. “Karen Read’s Lexus involved in Court Case for sale.”
Read was accused of second degree murder after her boyfriend John O’Keefe, a Boston police officer, was found dead in the snow outside a Canton home in January 2022. Prosecutors alleged that Read intentionally backed into O’Keefe with her SUV while dropping him off at an afterparty after the pair had spent the night drinking with friends.

Her first trial ended in a hung jury, but after she was tried again, she was found not guilty of murder and convicted only of drunk driving — a misdemeanor for which she received a year of probation. The SUV sat in police custody for years.
Now, Autobahn USA Dedham is selling the car, which only has 12,832 miles on it, according to its online listing. The SUV’s list price is $100,400, with the dealership including an automatic $1,000 discount to make the price $99,995.
The SUV was reportedly in need of some repairs before it could be sold, with a mechanic telling the Boston Herald the vehicle had a dead battery, shattered dashboard, and rodent infestation. The vehicle was also missing its damaged right taillight, a contentious piece of evidence, with prosecutors arguing it was shattered hitting O’Keefe.

More than 200 Boston.com readers weighed in on how much they thought the SUV would sell for, and the majority of readers (about 35 percent) estimated the SUV would go for less than $70,000, citing the vehicle’s troubled history.
A fair market range for the SUV is around $61,000, according to the Kelly Blue Book. However, another used 2021 Lexus LX 570, with nearly 66,000 miles on it, is listed for $66,595 in Brighton.
