In Greater Boston’s dining scene, there’s always a new restaurant opening to celebrate or a fresh update coming to one of the city’s delicious eateries. In the months ahead, we have major restaurant openings from Michelin chefs and famous New York restaurateurs, as well as a swell of diverse and delicious smaller restaurants joining our neighborhoods.

Each week, Boston.com will highlight the restaurant openings worth knowing about across the region. Some spots will already be open, while others are set to debut in 2026. At least one featured restaurant will always be a bonus item — either a pop-up, a collaboration, or event at area restaurants.

What’s new in Greater Boston restaurant openings this week

Kitchen + Kocktails by Kevin Kelley

A fast-expanding, Black-owned soul and Southern cuisine concept is giving new life to the space that formerly housed the controversial Salt Bae steakhouse. You’ll find Southern comfort food like black-eyed peas, catfish, and shrimp and grits on the menu, plus margarita flights and other signature and classic cocktails for libations. The owner, Kevin Kelley, is from Texas and created the concept after missing Southern comfort food while living abroad. 

Opening date: June

100 Arlington St., Back Bay

Maple & Ash

Steakhouses are clearly making a comeback with the announced opening of Hawksmoor, Zebra Room, and now Maple & Ash. This Chicago-based steakhouse is the kind of place for a luxurious celebration, with a menu packed with caviar service, a raw bar, and even a list of “Butcher’s Reserve” cuts of beef.

Opening date: April 30

Mondo

A wine bar with a New England-inspired food menu is coming to the South End. The team behind it is Spenser Payne of Neighborhood Wines and Travis Robitaille of Petula’s, who worked together at Gray’s Hall, according to Swurl Media. Expect a variety of bottles, from region to price point, and a mostly 90s playlist to jam to with your glass of vino. 

Opening date: Summer

563 Columbus Ave., South End

Rosa y Marigold

One of Boston’s most anticipated restaurants is now open at Lyrik Back Bay, serving Peruvian cuisine in a setting made to feel like a dinner party from the team behind Cambridge and Somerville gems La Royal and Celeste. The menu includes ceviche that comes with blue cod, a selection of the Peruvian street food skewers (known as anticuchos), and several “Chifa” dishes that combine Peruvian ingredients with Cantonese cooking. For drinks, choose a cocktail from the rather large list of Pisco drinks, or grab a glass of natural wine or Peruvian beer.

Bonus: The Zebra Room

As mentioned above, there’s yet another place Bostonians can grab a medium rare cut of beef, with this particular steakhouse located beneath Yvonne’s and behind a bookshelf in a 10-table lounge. On the menu is of course steak, like wagyu ribeye cap and a roast prime rib, as well as other steakhouse staples like caviar (for example, onion rings topped with caviar and crème fraiche), raw bar classics, and steakhouse sides. Its beverage program does riffs on classic cocktails (like the Zebra Negroni with Gin, strawberry amaro, rhubarb, and olive oil Campari), while its wine program is meant to pair with steakhouse classics.
