Chaba Cafe

Lucky for fans of Thai cuisine that a cozy restaurant space in Brookline Village didn’t stay empty for long. New Thai restaurant, Chaba Café, has found a sweet spot within the former location of the now-shuttered hidden gem, So Kitchen, which also served Thai cuisine. While the menu boasts some savory appetizers—puffs stuffed with Thai-curry-spiced chicken and potato, plus chicken wings tossed in spicy-sweet tamarind sauce, vegetarian spring rolls, and more—the real draw is the stacked menu of drinks and Bangkok-style street desserts. Find deep-fried ripe bananas, coconut ice cream, and mango sticky rice (plus a version that incorporates mango ice cream). Wash it all down with Thai iced tea or butterfly pea lemonade that looks like purple and pink ombre drinkable art. Check out the thin pancakes stuffed with savory and sweet fillings, too.

LPM Restaurant & Bar

The Four Seasons Hotel One Dalton Street in Back Bay is about to get even more très chic with the upcoming opening of a French-Riveria themed restaurant. LPM, otherwise known as La Petite Maison, is slated to open within the luxe hotel sometime this summer, joining upscale Japanese eatery, Zuma, and coastal New England restaurant and high-tea hotspot, Trifecta. The London-founded restaurant already boasts an outpost in Miami, and after the closure of its Las Vegas location, Boston will be only its second currently open venture this side of the pond. Expect haute cuisine, from classic duck à l’orange to beef carpaccio and caviar service, for magnifique meals on the town.

Naya 

Fueling up before hitting Fenway? Naya—the fast-casual NYC-founded Lebanese restaurant with spots in Back Bay, Cambridge, downtown and elsewhere—just opened a new location within the former Caffè Nero space on Boylston Street in Fenway. Pop in for bowls, salads, wraps, and small bites. Start with mini spinach pies, deep-fried three-cheese phyllo rolls, and classic mezze like grape leaves and taboule salad. For entrees, pick from chef’s creations, including chicken shawarma served over rice and topped with toum (a tangy and garlicky spread), a braised beef bowl, and a hummus and falafel wrap with zippy lemon tahini. Or pick a protein and grain and whip up your own bowls, salads, and wraps on the fly. Peruse the in-store pantry to pick up pomegranate molasses, za’tar spice mix, and other goodies to kick up your cuisine at home.

Scull & Keel Fish House & Spirits

Yes, seafood in Boston may not be particularly unexpected, but Scull & Keel—which bills itself as “New England seafood with a contemporary edge”—knows when to sail into new waters. The new restaurant, which replaced the long-running ArtBar as the dining concept within Cambridge’s Royal Sonesta Hotel, serves breakfast, lunch, dinner, and weekend brunch with a fresh-catch mindset and more than a few surprises. Ever wanted a seafood spin on chicken and waffles for breakfast? Check out the New England fish & waffle dish, which sees a beer-battered hake filet served alongside a cheddar-bacon waffle with a sunny egg and a drizzle of maple syrup. On the all-day menu, shrimp po’boys (get them vegan, too) join New-England-by-way-of-Mexico scallops with lime crema and crispy corn, plus tuna tartare nachos with avocado, grilled shishitos, and kicking wasabi crema. Other feasts include a platter of fried seafood goodness served with fries, corn, and coleslaw, plus a two-pound lobster dinner to share — or not.

Bonus: Tower Hour at Maple & Ash 

Just in time to start those summer evenings a little bit earlier, luxe steakhouse Maple & Ash is taking over the bar and lounge of the Superette in the Seaport for a daily Tower Hour from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. The special is your chance to order their famous seafood tower—piled high with Alaskan king crab, black tiger prawns, clams, and scallops—for $45. The goodies are roasted in Maple & Ash’s hearth and doused with garlic butter and chili oil. Pair the decadence with drinks like the Multiple Personalities (a combo of Código Blanco tequila, Disaronno, coconut, and tropical fruit juices) for an hour-long vacation.
