Proactive security: Omnissa Security & Compliance solution
Cile Montgomery · 2024-09-05 · via Omnissa

Now that we are independently Omnissa, we continue to innovate around our core solutions. Our Security & compliance solution helps you proactively manage and mitigate risks that are plaguing IT and security teams in organizations around the world.

Our customers come to us challenged with:

  • Securing access in an environment where compromised credentials, vulnerability exploits, and phishing continue to be the prevalent entry points and areas of risk.
  • Proving the effectiveness of IT and security solutions, managing tool sprawl, and rationalizing decisions around people, process, and technology.
  • Growing their talent pool, addressing skills gaps, and optimizing work across teams.

If these issues resonate with you, read on to learn more about how the Omnissa Platform and our Security & Compliance solution can help your business.

The Omnissa platform

At Omnissa, it is our mission to enable smart, seamless, and secure work experiences from anywhere. We continue to innovate with the vision of creating self-healing, self-securing environments.

Omnissa might be new, but our history in bringing together endpoint management with security and compliance is rich and proven. Since the advent of Workspace ONE®, we’ve been working to ease pains around security, management, and end-user experience. The Omnissa Platform includes UEM, VDI, DEX, and Security & Compliance solutions.

With this robust platform, Omnissa makes it easy to secure and manage a variety of device types and ownership models. We can help reduce churn and connect people across functions by sharing information and delivering rich orchestrations and automations.

Omnissa Security & compliance

The Omnissa Security & compliance solution helps you establish and improve the security posture of endpoints by establishing, verifying, and enforcing baselines and desired states. Access requests can automatically factor in endpoint security posture and risk assessment, giving you more information and more control to proactively manage and mitigate risk.

Three main strategic initiatives make up the Omnissa Security & compliance solution: risk-based secure access, endpoint risk and remediation, and our smart and extensible platform.

Risk-based secure access

It’s no secret that compromised credentials are a common way bad actors can gain entry into your organization. Omnissa gives you the tools to authenticate and verify access to vital systems. Security posture can be assessed continuously, and access decision-making can be informed by user, endpoint, application, and network risk. The Omnissa Platform integrates with leading identity providers (IdPs). Our risk-based access solutions offer passwordless options with strong authentication, mobile SSO, included MFA or third-party MFA, and PIV-D support for virtual smart cards.

For organizations wanting to reduce their attack surface and more efficiently protect applications and resources, we have Workspace ONE Tunnel. Our per-application tunneling to corporate apps and resources effectively segments and protects information. It is also an easy way to transition from full-device VPNs to application-level VPNs: start with full device tunneling, and then pare things down.

Rich telemetry from Workspace ONE UEM allows you to verify device posture, and Risk Analytics provides vital information that lets you observe behaviors and respond to changes in risk across your organization. In response to various events and endpoint risk levels, automated workflows can restrict access, require additional authentication, and provide remediations.

Endpoint risk and remediation

Vulnerability exploits continue to be an issue, and patching vulnerabilities is foundational to security. Organizations are at varying levels of maturity in this space with processes that can be disconnected or incomplete. Our solutions make it easier to assess, prioritize, and remediate issues with firmware, operating systems, and apps.

Phishing campaigns for mobile grew in sophistication last year, and we see companies struggle to halt intricate executive-targeted campaigns incorporating social engineering tactics. Workspace ONE Mobile Threat Defense is one of our endpoint risk and remediation solutions. This solution includes phishing protection for mobile that is DNS based, so protection extends to anything with a URL — SMS, apps, and even social media-based threats. This protection integrates with Workspace ONE Tunnel, so you can protect against phishing while simultaneously securing vital connections to apps and resources. The broad mobile security protection offered by Workspace ONE Mobile Threat Defense also addresses device, app, and network-based threats.

When issues are identified, they can be remediated. In line with our approach to interconnecting security and management, our mobile protection solution integrates with Workspace ONE UEM to allow for simple activation on devices and automated responses to elevated risk. (UEM-based remediations can also extend to desktop and mobile threat signals from third parties in our Trust Network.)

Workspace ONE UEM makes it easy to mitigate conditions of elevated risk by delivering updates over the air to devices anywhere. Platform services, including Omnissa Freestyle Orchestrator, make it easier to design and execute intricate automations and orchestrations that rectify issues immediately.

Workspace ONE UEM can also proactively address risk via security baselines and desired state management, which reduces the need for reactive work. Set endpoints to an established baseline from Day 1, then continuously monitor and correct configuration drift.

Smart and extensible platform

The Omnissa Platform is designed to help you get more out of your existing best-of-breed investments. Risk evaluation is enriched by third-party and cross-platform security signals. Threats and vulnerabilities can be addressed automatically, with remediations and responses happening across platforms, including Workspace ONE UEM, ITSM solutions, and Slack.

We believe in designing systems that interconnect with your existing investments so you can maximize value and make your IT and security lifecycles more efficient. We help you take action automatically via highly customizable workflows. The results can be centralized in one place and observed via custom reporting and dashboards within Workspace ONE. The process of managing and securing complex environments is simplified with user-friendly administrative dashboards and tools.

Unifying management and security is one way that Omnissa continuously adapts to the way people work. We give end users what they need, when they need it, while tailoring access and managing risk in real time.
