We know that your best work happens when you can access your virtual desktops and apps seamlessly, regardless of which device you're using. But for too long, the result of supporting multiple platforms has been that you've had to learn different interfaces for each one. We're excited to bring a completely redesigned Omnissa Horizon Client that helps you stay productive and focused, no matter where you work.

It’s designed to help you:

  • Work seamlessly across platforms with the same layout and settings on every device
  • Reduce training time and support tickets with one consistent experience

One interface, multiple platforms

Before we introduce what's changing, let's start with what will stay the same. You'll still be able to access all your entitled desktops and applications, connect to your brokers, and use all the powerful VDI features you rely on. The difference is how unified the experience feels.  Open the redesigned Horizon Client on Windows, Linux, or Mac platform, and you'll see all your entitlements in a single view showing all your desktops and applications in a clean and modern layout. If you move between a Windows workstation at the office, a MacBook at home or a Linux machine in the lab, the interface stays consistent. Same layout, same navigation, same visual language. Learn it once and use it anywhere.

This consistency isn’t just helpful for users. IT teams benefit from having fewer variations to support, simpler troubleshooting paths, and a more predictable onboarding experience.

A unified Horizon Client interface across Windows, Linux, and Mac delivers a consistent, modern experience on every device.

Designed for your workflow

The redesigned Horizon Client brings the same clean, thoughtful experience to every aspect of your workflow, and these features work the same across all platforms.

Organize your work your way. Use folders to group desktops and apps by project, team or function. This helps keep growing entitlement lists manageable and easier to navigate.

Mark favorites for quick access. Keep your most-used desktops and apps at the top of your view. Whether you're managing two desktops or twenty, the interface adapts to how you work.

Group your resources with folders, subfolders, favorite them, and color labels for quick navigation.

Consistent settings across all platforms. Settings follow a clear, unified hierarchy with the same placement and labels on Windows, Mac, and Linux. This makes it simpler for users to find what they need and easier for IT teams to guide them.

In-session controls are at your fingertips. Once connected to a desktop, a moveable toolbar gives you instant access to USB device connections, settings, disconnect and log off controls. Drag it anywhere on screen. Pin or unpin as needed. It offers complete flexibility while you work.

All the capabilities you rely on remain. Horizon Blast, multi-monitor support, USB redirection, and the security features you expect are all still there. Nothing has been removed; the experience is simply easier to use.

The new client experience is on its way

We know change needs to happen carefully in enterprise environments. That's why we're introducing it in phases.

Initial release: Both the existing Horizon Client and the redesigned versions will be available in our Horizon 8 2512 installer.  The redesigned client will be in “Tech Preview”. We encourage end users to explore it and tell us what they think.  If you run into issues, work with your IT administrator to open a support ticket. For general feedback or questions, you can also share your experience and ask questions on our community forum.

Transition period: In a future release, the redesigned client will become the default for new installations.  The legacy client will still be available for organizations that need more time before switching.

Final phase: The redesigned version will become the primary Omnissa Horizon Client. The legacy version will no longer receive new UI updates, but it will continue to get critical fixes for the duration of its support window.

This phased rollout ensures everyone has time to test, train, and adopt the new experience.
