Managing virtual desktops with Workspace ONE Unified Endpoint Management (UEM) just got easier with automated enrollment for desktops running on Horizon Cloud. Our new integration simplifies enrollment of Horizon Cloud desktops into Workspace ONE so admins can employ full endpoint management capabilities right away, just as they do with physical devices.

Enrollment is a key step in the enterprise device lifecycle—it’s here that an endpoint gets connected to a management system, such as Workspace ONE UEM. Only then can we apply authentication, access control, compliance, and other critical policies. At this point we can manage and secure devices, including access to the apps and resources users need to be productive.

For many organizations, the enrollment process can be a drain on time and resources. This is especially true with legacy management tools that require tedious manual efforts. Workspace ONE UEM, however, is a modern solution that eases the burden with support for flexible, simplified, and automated enrollment options across desktop, mobile, rugged, IoT, and now virtual endpoints.

Easier than an easy button

A truly simple process, no user or admin intervention is needed during enrollment. All the configuration steps are done up front when the VM pool is created with Horizon Cloud, which can provision VMs on several infrastructure platforms including Amazon WorkSpaces Core and Microsoft Azure.

During pool configuration, the admin selects the option to manage VMs with UEM, then completes fields for UEM settings (UEM Device Services Server URL, Organization Group ID, Staging Username, and Staging Password), which are configured and stored at the pool level.

When an end user opens the Horizon Client and logs in with domain credentials, a device record is automatically created in Workspace ONE UEM. The device is enrolled and can be seen and managed in the Workspace ONE UEM console.

In the Horizon Cloud console, new UEM-specific information is presented to aid with administration and troubleshooting. Admins have visibility over which pools are under management with details including VM status, VMs enrolled, and any failed enrollments that might require attention.

Meanwhile, the end user experience remains seamless. Upon login, the end user has a ready to use virtual desktop equipped with Workspace ONE Intelligent Hub. A delightfully personalized experience with apps, resources, and support users are familiar with.

Benefits of the Omnissa platform

Management software vendors have traditionally prioritized features for physical devices, leaving virtual endpoints to be overlooked or requiring separate, siloed management tools. Omnissa is uniquely positioned, with leading virtualization and UEM solutions, to help customers unify management across virtual and physical endpoints. Toward this vision, our teams have been focused on building integrations between Horizon and Workspace ONE. In addition to automated enrollment, we’ve added support for gold image management, App Volumes for physical devices, multiuser support for floating assignment desktops, OSOT compatibility, and remote assist with Workspace ONE Assist for Horizon.

If you’re an existing customer with both Horizon and Workspace ONE (for desktop management), you may already have the tools to get started.
