New Enterprise App Repository for macOS in Workspace ONE
Paul Mounkes · 2026-05-28 · via Omnissa

The newest Workspace ONE UEM release (v2604) includes many critical upgrades to Apple device management capabilities.  Check out our blog that covers all those upgrades in one place here. In this blog, we’ll get more specific and expand on how the new Enterprise App Repository for macOS helps IT teams deploy, update, and manage third-party Mac apps with less manual effort.

macOS application management may be taking you more time than it should

For many IT administrators, managing pkg/DMG applications on macOS devices is still a largely manual process. Even with solid device management in place, routine tasks—packaging apps, testing installers, tracking versions, and keeping software up to date—consume more time than expected.

This work is necessary, but it is also repetitive. An update is released, a package must be rebuilt, testing is performed again, and deployment follows. When priorities shift, updates may get delayed, leaving devices running outdated software. As Macs become a standard part of enterprise environments, these inefficiencies scale. The new Enterprise App Repository (EAR) for macOS focuses on reducing this operational burden without changing how IT teams govern applications.

Introducing the new Enterprise App Repository for macOS

The EAR in Workspace ONE UEM is a built-in catalog of third-party macOS applications that can be deployed without manual packaging. Instead of sourcing installers and building packages, administrators select applications directly from the repository in the Workspace ONE UEM console.

With the EAR, IT teams can deploy more than 50+ commonly used third-party Mac applications from a curated repository, eliminating most manual packaging.

A curated catalog that reduces guesswork

Mac applications vary widely in installer formats and update mechanisms. Omnissa addresses this with a curated app catalog selected for common enterprise usage and prepared for managed deployment.

Administrators access the catalog in the console under: Add > Enterprise App Repository > macOS. Apps can be reviewed and added without writing scripts or repackaging installers.

Here is just a sample of the top apps you’ll have access to:

  • Docker
  • Figma
  • Firefox
  • Google Chrome
  • Microsoft Edge
  • Microsoft Outlook
  • Microsoft Teams
  • Omnissa Horizon
  • Postman
  • Slack
  • Visual Studio Code
  • Zoom

The EAR includes search and filtering to simplify discovery. Administrators can search by app name or vendor, browse available Mac apps in a single view, and quickly confirm whether manual packaging is required.

Deploying apps

With just a few clicks the application is deployed to your designated group.  View this demo video to see how easily a phased deployment assignment is handled in the EAR.

Keeping apps updated

The repository clearly marks apps with available updates, allows updates without rebuilding packages, and supports repositorybased updates for apps originally added manually. Deployment timing remains under administrator control.

How this changes day-to-day operations

In environments managing hundreds or thousands of Macs, frequently updated tools can consume significant time. The EAR reduces packaging cycles, simplifies testing, and improves version consistency without changing governance practices. Teams can begin by identifying highchurn apps, checking availability in the EAR catalog, piloting repositorybased deployments, and defining update review guidelines.

A useful step toward simpler Mac management

The EAR simplifies the mechanics of deploying and maintaining thirdparty Mac applications. By reducing repetitive work, IT teams can focus more on security, reliability, and improving the employee experience.

For a slightly more technical dive into the EAR, check out our Community blog “Managing macOS apps just got easier in Workspace ONE UEM App management for macOS devices.”
