Organizations delivering modern digital workspaces are looking for platforms that provide more flexibility and reduce infrastructure complexity, without compromising scale, performance, or user experience. Today, we are excited to announce that Omnissa Horizon 8 support for Nutanix AHV is now Generally Available as part of the Horizon 8 2512 release. This milestone expands customer choice for modern VDI deployments and strengthens the joint innovation between Omnissa and Nutanix to simplify virtual app and desktop delivery.

This GA release delivers what many customers have been anticipating since we launched a beta earlier this year: automation at scale. With Horizon 8 on AHV, organizations can now rapidly provision and manage desktops and published applications using streamlined workflows and native integration across the Horizon platform and Nutanix Cloud Infrastructure with AHV. The result is a future-ready solution that delivers powerful end-user experiences while reducing operational overhead.

A journey built with customers

Over the course of our beta and limited availability phases, we collaborated closely with a significant number of customers who tested and deployed Horizon 8 on AHV in environments spanning healthcare, education, public sector, and commercial enterprises. Their feedback has been invaluable, validating performance expectations, advancing platform capabilities, and confirming that the final automation enhancements now available in the GA release unlock the deployment acceleration organizations have known to expect from Horizon.

This journey reflects a deep engineering partnership with Nutanix across hypervisor, storage, and virtual networking layers. Horizon environments backed by Nutanix HCI (Hyperconverged Infrastructure) have already been a proven and trusted choice for years. Now, with full AHV automation integrated directly into Horizon 8 2512, customers have even more flexibility in how they architect infrastructure to meet evolving business needs.

Automation that accelerates outcomes

The centerpiece of this GA announcement is full production support for automated desktop pools and automated RDSH farms running on Nutanix AHV. These new capabilities enable customers to:

  • Provision virtual desktops on demand with consistent golden image workflows
  • Deliver published apps and desktops, including App Volumes Published Apps on Demand for streamlined application lifecycle management
  • Scale quickly, whether supporting seasonal spikes or hybrid work surges
  • Maintain strong security postures with vTPM and overlay network support
  • Pool automation that simplifies lifecycle updates and reduces admin time

For organizations evaluating options for delivering secure, high-performance virtual workspaces, this level of automation is essential. Customers can now deploy Horizon 8 on AHV in a fraction of the time compared to manual buildouts, while leveraging operational simplicity through Nutanix Prism Central and the Horizon Console.

Enterprise-ready integrations for hybrid and high-performance use cases

Beyond provisioning automation, this release expands enterprise readiness with:

  • Sysprep profile management through the Horizon Console, streamlining administration
  • Integration with Horizon Cloud, including monitoring, Help Desk assistance, and unified digital experience (DEX) tooling
  • Support for cloud-hosted Nutanix NC2 infrastructure on Azure and Google Cloud, in addition to AWS, enabling organizations to run Horizon 8 on AHV across multiple public cloud platforms via a unified Horizon console.
  • Support for Workspace ONE UEM auto-enrollment of desktops, giving admins the ability to automatically enroll virtual desktops into UEM for centralized management, compliance, patching, and security policy enforcement, particularly useful for persistent or dedicated desktops.
  • Optional session recording for Horizon sessions, giving organizations the ability to record, audit, and replay virtual desktop/application sessions for compliance, troubleshooting, or training needs (when this feature is enabled)
  • Support for Workspace ONE Access Cloud to deliver secure, policy-driven access control and authentication for Horizon environments
  • FIPS-mode capabilities to help support environments with stringent compliance requirements

These enhancements ensure that organizations adopting AHV can run Horizon in production with full confidence, supported by the same platform features and operational consistency they rely on today when using vSphere-based deployments.

Freedom to choose how you deploy

Every organization’s infrastructure strategy is different and often evolves. Horizon 8 with AHV enables organizations to:

  • Avoid overdependence on any single deployment model
  • Right-size infrastructure based on budget, performance, and location needs
  • Operate mixed-environment fleets across vSphere, AHV, and cloud infrastructure
  • Design a future-ready environment that supports modernization at their pace

This GA release reinforces a core Omnissa value: customer choice. No matter where workloads live, on-premises or in cloud environments, Horizon provides a unified operational and user experience strategy that adapts as business requirements change.

Deploy faster. Operate simpler. Scale confidently.

As organizations evaluate the next evolution of virtual desktop and app delivery, Horizon 8 on Nutanix AHV offers a modernized, automation-driven foundation that enables fast scale, efficient operations, and exceptional user experience, without unnecessary.  infrastructure complexity.

General availability means customers and partners everywhere can now confidently deploy Horizon on AHV with the full support and guidance of Omnissa engineering teams. We are excited to see what our customers accomplish next as they expand their digital workspace strategies.
