Broadcom (VMware) named a Leader in four 2024 IDC MarketS...

As we enter an exciting new chapter, the End-User Computing (EUC) Division of Broadcom® — formerly VMware EUC and soon to be Omnissa — is excited to announce that Broadcom (VMware)* was positioned as a Leader in four recent IDC MarketScape vendor assessments for the unified endpoint management (UEM) market. Click the links below to download excerpts of the reports to see why we believe the IDC MarketScape positioned us as a Leader in all four!

This year’s IDC MarketScape assessments for the UEM market specifically advised technology buyers to look for solutions that support “work-from-anywhere” users across multiple devices, integrate with key enterprise system infrastructure software (SIS) systems, enable modern PC management, and measure and improve the digital employee experience (DEX). The IDC MarketScape also advised buyers to look for solutions that can manage nontraditional devices, like extended reality (XR) headsets, digital signage, interactive kiosks, and more. We believe the IDC MarketScape recognized Broadcom (VMware) as a Leader in all four assessments because of our Workspace ONE® Unified Endpoint ManagementTM platform, which the IDC MarketScape described as “among the most complete UEM products on the market,” in terms of depth of features and breadth of devices and use cases we support.

Workspace ONE is the industry’s first UEM solution with an integrated data lake, AI/ML engine, and low-code workflow orchestrator to fuel smarter endpoint management across the entire workspace environment. Built on a modern SaaS architecture, Workspace ONE is capable of supporting world-class organizations across all industries at unparalleled scale. By uniquely integrating UEM with DEX, virtual desktop (VDI) and apps, and security and compliance solutions, Workspace ONE enables smart, seamless, and secure work experiences from anywhere.

Key observations and Workspace ONE innovations

We believe the 2024 IDC MarketScape assessments underscore the pivotal role of Workspace ONE across various segments of UEM software, highlighting our solution’s multifaceted capabilities and growth. Spanning UEM for multi-OS environments, client endpoint management (CEM) for Windows devices, UEM for Apple devices, and UEM for frontline/IoT devices, Workspace ONE emerges as a comprehensive platform catering to a broad spectrum of enterprise needs. According to the IDC MarketScape, the necessity for robust UEM tools is evident, with a notable majority of enterprises employing multiple UEM solutions to effectively manage their diverse digital ecosystems. We believe Workspace ONE stands out for its extensive support across different operating systems, applications, and endpoint categories, including desktop, mobile, rugged, and virtual endpoints. This comprehensive coverage allows for seamless integration and management, catering to every aspect of an enterprise’s digital ecosystem, from knowledge workers’ mobile devices and laptops to frontline workers’ special-purpose devices.

Workspace ONE for Windows devices

With Windows devices constituting a significant portion of business PCs and laptops, Workspace ONE’s enhancements in Windows device management signal a noteworthy trend toward modern management practices. Its capabilities extend beyond mere device activations, emphasizing security, efficient configuration, and support for specialized use cases like point-of-sale terminals and self-service kiosks. In the past year, Workspace ONE enhanced Windows OS support with robust security features such as streamlined cloud-native patch management, integration with Intel for below-the-OS-layer management, and support for Windows 11 in Workspace ONE Baselines, as well as efficient configuration of desktop devices, including multi-user mode for shared devices and DIY toolkits for Drop Ship Provisioning.

Workspace ONE for Apple devices

Workspace ONE also supports the rise of Apple devices in business settings, with robust management solutions that provide seamless integration and support for iOS, macOS, and other Apple OS platforms. For example, Workspace ONE includes immediate compatibility with new releases, such as macOS Sonoma and the MacBook Air M3. With imageless deployment, over-the-air device onboarding, and improved macOS update capabilities (featuring versioning, scheduling, and escalation criteria), Workspace ONE keeps macOS devices up to date and more secure with the latest Apple OS releases. Activation Lock management (which allows admins to easily manage wiped, reset, and returned devices) and Hub Health (which runs important processes like scripts and sensors continuously) underscore a modern security approach for enterprise macOS management.

Workspace ONE for frontline and IoT endpoints

Furthermore, the frontline and IoT device segment demonstrates Workspace ONE’s adaptability in managing a variety of specialized devices, essential for industries leveraging ruggedized equipment, digital signage, and virtual reality (VR) headsets. In the past year, frontline innovations include general availability of Workspace ONE XR Hub for VR headsets, support for shared device conditional access, expanded shift-based access controls, and new mobile telemetry capabilities. Telemetry features were specifically designed to improve DEX and lost-device prevention frontline use cases, with enhanced visibility into shared and kiosk device usage and health via Workspace ONE Launcher, advanced battery performance monitoring, network performance and location awareness, and alerts for devices that are considered high-risk or have left their assigned location.

Conclusion

Overall, we believe Workspace ONE’s advancements across the segments noted in this year’s IDC MarketScape assessments reflect a strategic vision toward enabling autonomous workspaces. Through the integration of generative AI, a modern microservice-based architecture, and a comprehensive support framework for a wide range of devices and operating systems, Workspace ONE is setting the pace for the future of enterprise device management, with enhanced scalability, performance, and user satisfaction.
