Navigate the 8 stages of app lifecycle management

In June, we introduced our perspective on modern app management, and hosted “Omnissa Presents: App Management Reimagined”, a virtual event to explore new strategies for improving Windows app management. For decades, the status quo in managing apps has led to complexity and high costs, but there is a better path forward. As the title of our premiere event suggests, we shared insights into reimagining how apps can be managed, secured, and delivered using the Omnissa platform, led by Omnissa App Volumes with Apps on Demand. If you missed the event, you can watch the event replay here

Highlights from the event included:

  • A keynote where we heard directly from analysts, customers and partners, including Microsoft, Amazon, and IGEL, about how App Volumes can reduce app management time and costs across virtual and physical environments.
  • Business and strategy breakout sessions showcasing how to build app management business cases, and strategies that don’t compromise app security or user experience.
  • Technical breakout sessions that dove deep into the shift from legacy app packaging to modern app capture and portability techniques.

On the heels of our App Volumes 2412 release, which included MSI support for app delivery to physical Windows endpoints like your traditional laptops and desktops, we also announced upcoming app lifecycle management capabilities for physical endpoints. In addition to being able to easily capture app packages (watch the event replay to see demos!), these powerful and comprehensive capabilities will be available directly from the App Volumes Manager and include:

  • Version control – Using Marker assignments, IT and app admins can easily update apps they’ve entitled to users with a single click across virtual and later this year, physical endpoints. Keeping apps up to date not only helps reduce security vulnerabilities but also provides end users with app features that improve their productivity.
  • Rollback – Also using Markers, admins can easily revert an app to a previous version. This helps reduce downtime and increase productivity across your entire end users, or groups, with just a few clicks.
  • Retire – In the App Volumes Manager, admins can use the lifecycle stages feature to retire apps. One click allows admins to move app packages from New to Tested to Published to Retire state, streamlining the app lifecycle management process.

To take advantage of these capabilities, we recently introduced our Apps Essentials offering for app delivery and management across virtual AND physical Windows endpoints. To learn more about how we’re reimagining Windows app management, scan the QR codes below.
