The British Science Association is proud to announce a new partnership with Silence Therapeutics, which has come on board as a supporter of our core education programme, the CREST Awards. Silence Therapeutics is a biotechnology company that aims to silence diseases through its precision-engineered medicines, transforming people’s lives and driving positive change for their communities around the world.
Thanks to the support of our partners, such as Silence Therapeutics, we can continue to pursue our goals to expand interest and involvement in science education. Science identity is largely formed during childhood, and evidence suggests that CREST participation helps to place students in the role of a scientist or engineer, strengthening their affinity with science and their understanding of its many real-world applications.
Looking ahead to 2022 and beyond, we plan to increase uptake of CREST Star Awards among early years professionals and build on ways of embedding science identity into family settings. To support this, we are also excited to expand our URA (Underrepresented Audiences) network of primary and some secondary teachers from schools in challenging circumstances, boosting engagement and inclusion in the science education sphere.
