Liverpool in space
Space scientists from the University of Liverpool and Liverpool John Moores University reveal the out-of-this-world research happening across the city.
Drop-in and join them to delve into fascinating subjects including microgravity, astrophysics and planetary defence, and discover how new technologies are deepening our understanding of the universe and changing our life on Earth.

Cosmic creativity: Coding robotic telescopes
Journey into deep space and explore unanswered questions about deep-space objects in this workshop with the Astrophysics Research Institute.
You’ll find out how to track gamma-ray bursts and supernovae, use specialist software to transform celestial data into stunning visuals, and develop code to direct a 3D printed version of a robotic telescope.
Everyone is welcome and you’ll have plenty of guidance – just bring your curiosity!

MOONFACE
Shady billionaires plot to colonise the solar system – but the moon has something to say about it. With burlesque and drag-style numbers, this playful and heartfelt piece of interactive theatre blends humour with spectacle. At its core, it’s a love letter to our rocky satellite and what it means to be human.

Voyager at 50: is there anybody out there?
If you met an alien, what would you tell them about life on Earth?
Take part in a craft activity inspired by the Voyager 1 space probe and imagined extraterrestrial encounters. Explore a display of magazines, books and other paraphernalia from the University of Liverpool’s science fiction archives.

How do you communicate with extraterrestrial being when you don’t share a language? In a talk with Hannah Little from the University of Liverpool we explore the beginnings of human language and what it might teach us about connecting with alien life.
