Whether you’re looking to organise your own event, attend another, or take part in our themed run or citizen science project, there’s loads of ways to get involved. Read on below to find out more…
Run with the Ancestors
We're delighted to add another race to our ever-popular Run... series: Run with the Ancestors.
Pop on your trainers, plug in your headphones and embark on a race through 1 million years of Britain’s ancient history. The narration features Dr Professor Chris Stringer, Research Leader in Human Origins and Dr Silvia Bello, Human Evolution Researcher at the Natural History Museum in London. Their expertise help explain the phenomena encountered during the run. From tools used by our first ancestors to evidence of domesticated dogs, you’ll gain an accurate insight to early humans in Britain.
The race is available as a 5 or 10k
Whether you’re running home from work, running with friends on a Sunday morning or at the gym, the virtual race is an entertaining way to exercise.
It’s completely free to download but is only available over British Science Week – so don’t miss out!

Step back in time with our new immersive race
Operation Weather Rescue
This year, our Zooniverse citizen science partnership is with Operation Weather Rescue. They’re a team of researchers who are working tirelessly to digitize old weather records. Now they need your help to enter pieces of historical weather information into their database!
For British Science Week, we have identified two decades of important historical weather data. Your efforts will allow climate scientists and meteorologists from around the globe to have access to the raw data for the first time ever. This data can help predict our future climate.

Working with older students? Or just interested in the techniques behind studying for exams? Take part in the University of Oxford’s ‘Find the Brain’ game which is live over British Science Week! They’ll announce the results of their experiments live on Facebook on Friday 15 March. Find out more here.
Activity packs
Our free activity packs, themed around ‘journeys’ are bursting with simple, fun STEM challenges.
Focusing on using STEM skills in everyday tasks and activities, they allow students to investigate different journeys through nature, the journeys experienced by engineers, or journey taken our cells make through our bodies.
Don’t forget – you can use some of the activities towards a CREST Award. Find out more in the packs.

Poster competition
Why not bring together the disciplines of science and art and enter our poster competition?
The five best posters from your school can be entered into our UK-wide competition with the chance for students to win an array of prizes including a special prize from Guinness World Records. See here for full details.
