Proofpoint Pursues FedRAMP High Authorization Process for Collaboration Security | Proofpoint US
2026-03-18 · via Proofpoint News Feed

Milestone to expand Proofpoint’s existing FedRAMP Moderate authorization and commitment to protecting mission-critical federal and defense environments

SUNNYVALE, Calif. – March 18, 2026 – Proofpoint, Inc., a leading cybersecurity and compliance company, today announced it is pursuing the FedRAMP High authorization process for its Collaboration Security offerings. The milestone is expected to build on Proofpoint’s existing FedRAMP Moderate authorization for email protection and email data loss prevention (DLP) and represents the next phase of the company’s long-term commitment to supporting U.S. federal agencies and defense-related organizations operating in critical environments.

FedRAMP High is the U.S. government’s most rigorous cloud security baseline, designed for systems where a breach could result in severe or catastrophic impact. As agencies accelerate cloud modernization efforts, they require agile and secure capabilities that align to evolving compliance standards while enabling mission success. Entering the FedRAMP High authorization process positions Proofpoint to support these high-impact workloads with strengthened controls and operational rigor.

Email remains the primary initial attack vector across government networks. Phishing, credential harvesting, business email compromise, and targeted social engineering campaigns consistently target federal personnel and defense organizations. Protecting infrastructure alone is not sufficient. Agencies must secure the people who operate critical systems and safeguard sensitive communications that underpin operational effectiveness.

“Entering the FedRAMP High authorization process represents our commitment to protecting federal agencies against cyberattacks that target their personnel,” said Tom Corn, executive vice president and general manager, Threat Protection Group at Proofpoint. “As agencies modernize and move high-impact workloads to the cloud, protecting personnel from increasingly sophisticated, human-targeted threats is essential. Building on our FedRAMP Moderate foundation, we are expanding our controls and compliance posture to help federal and defense organizations operate securely at the speed their missions demand.”

Proofpoint’s pursuit of FedRAMP High authorization reinforces three priorities:

  • Deepened Federal Commitment: Formal entry into the High authorization process reflects continued investment in federal civilian agencies, defense organizations, and the defense industrial base.
  • Proven Compliance Foundation: Proofpoint’s existing FedRAMP Moderate authorization for email protection and Email DLP provides an established baseline now being extended to meet High impact requirements.
  • Mission-Critical Protection: Proofpoint’s human-centric security platform is designed to defend federal employees against advanced phishing, credential theft, business email compromise, and data exfiltration threats targeting sensitive government communications.

FedRAMP High availability will follow successful completion of the authorization process and federal approval timelines.
